KATE SHELLEY: SAVING THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS

The wind blew out her lantern, and Kate had to crawl along the bridge in the dark, whipped by the storm. The railroad ties were studded with nails, and twisted spikes. Through the ties, she could see the raging river – the river where her brother had drowned.
