I've always written and illustrated my own stories. (Click here if you would like to see an early example) After college, I moved to Denver, which was booming from the oil industry. I got sidetracked for a number of years researching mineral ownership and making deals for drilling oil wells. However, after I was transferred to Dallas, I decided it was time to volunteer for the next layoff and come back to Denver to pursue my lifetime dream of writing and illustrating children's books. (Click here if you want to see why I love Colorado.)

Since 1989, I've been happily freelancing as a writer/illustrator/designer – except when I'm trying to get clients to pay their invoices.

I live about ten minutes from downtown Denver in a hidden little neighborhood you'd swear was in the country. Below is a photo of my backyard with one of the resident coyotes. There are also foxes, rabbits galore – which is why there are coyotes and foxes – great horned owls, hawks, snakes, mice, squirrels, and a bevy of songbirds.

I've come full circle. This is how I get up from the floor after brushing Buster.

Yes, there is dog fur on the carpet. Get over it. Take a look at my studio on the contact page and you'll notice a trend.

Currently, I'm working on a graphic novel and submitting several YA manuscripts. One of these days someone is going to fall in love with
my style and wit. Until then, I've got Buster who loves everything I do.
